How to Responsibly Recycle and Discard Your Cottonique Apparels

Fast fashion has normalized the idea that clothing is disposable. At Cottonique, we believe the opposite. Clothing in Cottonique brings care, intention, and responsibility from the moment it’s worn to the moment it’s retired back to the soil.

Because Cottonique garments are crafted with GOTS Certified 100% Organic cotton, their journey doesn’t end when you stop wearing them. With thoughtful choices, your cotton clothing can continue to serve a purpose while minimizing environmental impact.

Extend Its Life Through Donation

If your Cottonique garment is still wearable, consider passing it on. Soft, breathable organic cotton remains beneficial even after years of use, especially for individuals with sensitive skin. Donating helps reduce textile waste while allowing others to experience the hypoallergenic comfort of 100% organic clothing.

Repurpose It at Home

Once a garment becomes too worn to wear, it can still be useful. Cotton's absorbent properties and softness enable it to be transformed into a lot of daily household items: From cleaning cloths, wash rags, reusable napkins, placemats, to pillow covers. Since most of our products are made with no dyes, and some with GOTS-certified low-impact dyes. You won't worry about the release of harmful chemicals, as it slowly degrades.

Choose Textile Recycling When Available

Many textile recycling programs accept pure cotton fabrics, even when they’re damaged. These materials can be broken down and reused for insulation, padding, or industrial applications. Recycling natural fibers helps reduce the demand for new raw materials and keeps textiles out of landfills.

Compost When the Time Is Right

When a Cottonique garment reaches the end of its usable life, composting is a great option. Especially for our 100% Biodegradable Collection, it can naturally break down over time. Cutting the fabric into smaller pieces helps speed up the composting process, allowing the material to quickly return safely to earth.

Discard Thoughtfully as a Last Resort

If reuse, recycling, or composting isn’t possible, discard the garment responsibly. Remove non-cotton elements such as elastics when you can. Even small efforts help reduce unnecessary waste.

A More Conscious Clothing Cycle

At Cottonique, sustainability doesn’t stop at production—it extends into how garments are used, reused, and eventually let go. By choosing 100% organic cotton clothing and disposing of it thoughtfully, you’re supporting a more mindful cycle that respects both your skin and the planet.

Clothing that is good for your skin and kind to the environment—every step of the way.
