Parents' Role in Managing Children with Allergies
As a parent, have you ever asked yourself why and how your child developed an allergy when in fact you don’t have any? Many of us are aware that it can be inherited while some just developed and was triggered by an allergen. It is our duty as a parent, to be proactive when it comes to our children's overall health.
How will you know the type of allergy your child has?
Ask. Initially, you can ask your child about the activities he’s been up to and the places he always visits. Sometimes, kids develop not just one type of allergy but 2-3 depending on his environment.
Observe. If your child is not very vocal about what he feels, try to observe his actions and the things that have an impact on him. If there is a constant stuff that makes him sneeze then you need to throw it away to prevent worse cases.
Consult. The best way to know your child’s status is to consult a doctor. He will examine your child’s behavior and medical history and can suggest proper treatment.

What can you do to prevent worsening of your child’s allergy?
Avoidance is one of the best ways. However, some allergies stay with you til you get old. In this situation, the best thing you can do is to minimize its effects. Just follow the doctor’s advice and take the prescribed medicine for your child. You can also start cleaning your house and your backyard to ensure his safety. Remember: Allergens are everywhere, even the tiniest particle can cause a flare-up. If he has food allergy, prepare allergy-friendly meals and opt for a healthier selection of food.
